Women Artisan Training and Life Skills Lessons

The Lidia Hope Centre held its first Embroidery Artisan Training (EAT) meeting in 2015. Thanks to the support and prayers of many, we have served over 300 women, starting with the mothers of the LHC school students.

The Embroidery Artisan Training teaches women artisanal skills, namely in hand embroidery tradition, so that they can find skilled employment locally. Our graduates develop their first professional work experience at the Lidia May Artisan Center, which prepares them for more job opportunities.

The LHC team has found that many family health issues are preventative if our Artisans have access to good information. We have now developed the life skills curriculum on Nutrition and we are developing new curriculums on topics such as: Child Protection, Sanitation & Hygiene, Girl’s Puberty, Women’s Health, and Family Planning. The goal is for the training to cover broad topics and then follow up with group activities and personal/family counseling sessions.
